Microsoft enforces DRM and restricts drivers in Vista x64...

Silently Microsoft enforces DRM in Windows Vista (x64) by requiring driver signatures for drivers which are handling “Protected Streams” (PUMA, PAP, PVP-OPM).

But this is not the major problem of the new publication called Digital Signatures for Kernel Modules on x64-based Systems Running Windows Vista
The main problem is that every kernel-mode driver must be digitaly singed! This will move some driver-developers or companies out of buissnes, because the signing process and signature is very expensive…

Of course, the good news is: MS now can identify the company which couses a BSOD ;)

Yea, this is a really bad news, seems like a security + marketing step...

After a x64 version of Windows preventing system call hooking (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/kernel/64bitPatching.mspx), it's seems that MS try to promote X64 versions as the only secure version of Windows. Wait and see.
